| Ask the PCWA for water conservation rewards
Water costs are on the rise and the Placer County Water Agency can do more to empower customers to avoid future costs through economic incentives. Residents of Auburn have recently been faced with the increasing costs of water, both on the supply side (PCWA) and the wastewater disposal side (city of Auburn). While these cost increases may have shocked many, the inescapable fact is these costs primarily reflect what we, the customers, demand — sufficient quantity and quality of water supplied to our homes and sufficient capacity of our sewage treatment plant to treat wastewater flows. Objecting to proposed cost increases is too late in the game to avoid increased costs. Changing what we, the customers, demand is the more effective way of heading off the future shock of water costs.

And like the vast majority of the American people, I want HR 676 (Medicare For All) passed into law NOW! plagues Delaware's Inland Bays
Improving wastewater treatment and reducing other point-source polluters has decreased phosphorous and nitrogen levels in the Inland Bays. Still, for more than 15 years, monitors have seen no decrease in nutrient pollutants in the bays. Of the three Inland Bays, only Rehoboth Bay is meeting recommended allowable levels of pollution.
The members of the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) to the Center for the Inland Bays (CIB) heard an update on water quality as part of their meeting Tuesday, Jan. 8.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) collects samples from the Inland Bays four times a year, measures the concentration of pollutants and then issues data in five-year sets. Rehoboth Bay meets the state’s standards for both phosphorous and nitrogen, known as total maximum daily loads (TMDLS).
