| The dead billionaire and the 'KGB poison killer'
It was made into a film, Tycoon, one of Russia's biggest box office successes. The band of London-based exiles has infuriated the Kremlin. So what are they up to? The answer is revolution. Berezovsky and Patarkatsishvili made billions in the smash-and-grab Yeltsin years when Russian state monopolies were privatised. They were among the first to see the opportunities in taking over industries rich in resources, but - at least by western standards - poor in management and exploitation. Patarkatsishvili was an economics graduate who ran state enterprises before he began a business empire that was to take in a bank, a TV station and numerous other interests. Berezovsky was a mathematics professor who started his career selling household goods.
Guess which driver's facing 21 years in prison — the drunk , rich ...
Considering the date, you might assume that at least one of the drivers was drunk — and you'd be right. Laura Varker was 17 years old, and she'd been tubing down the Salt River all day with her eight best girlfriends. Their T-shirts all read "Cinco de Drinko." Even an hour after the accident, Varker's blood-alcohol level was 0.09, over the legal limit for adults. And, as an underage driver, she was in violation of the law by having any amount of alcohol in her system. One of Varker's girlfriends, 15-year-old Felicia Edwards, didn't drink a drop. But it was Edwards who died when Varker's Yukon Denali hit another car and flipped over and over like a tumbleweed before coming to a horrifying stop on the Bush Highway north of Mesa. Edwards was thrown from the SUV and pronounced dead at the scene.

Feel-good brain-booster
Speaking at last week's Montreal International Game Summit, McGill psychology professor and MindHabits creator Mark Baldwin said just as playing Tetris for hours on end can have you seeing falling blocks in your dreams, a game like MindHabits can sculpt and reinforce new ways of thinking. "There's a lot of potential for using the repetitive, interactive nature of games to train patterns of thought that research has already shown are beneficial," said Baldwin, who wears multiple hats as MindHabits Inc.'s president and chief scientific officer. .
